Many of Sony’s lower end (they’re all expensive) cameras no longer comes with the dedicated charger anymore. They just ship. You with a USB cable and expect you to charge your camera with a USB adapter/dongle. However if you own several batteries (most of us do because they don’t last a long time), you’ll need a dedicated BC-QZ1 charger.Compared to the OEM Sony Charger from my A7Riv, it looks nearly identical. Careful sleuthing shows some subtle differences. For example the color of the plastic is more of a grey color, not black. Additionally the labels in the back are different (expected). Finally the print of the model number is smudged from the factory. This is what led me to give only 4 stars because the quality of the build is not there. If they can’t get the printing right, I a a bit concerned about what the internal electronics are like.However I am happy to report that from my testing it functions as it should. It charges my batteries fine and even has the 3 different light indicators for the state of the battery charge capacity. Overall it is a fine charger and at the price it’s good to have in your bag as an extra if you need it.

I got this to charge my batteries for my A7S3. I found this charger works just as well as the one that comes with my camera. I have left my chargers at home before, so it is nice to have this as a backup in my camera bag. The charger itself is made with quality materials. I suspect this charger will hold of for quite some time. I would highly recommend this charger to anyone looking for a replacement or a spare.
