This is a very good battery charger for the Nikon EN-EL18a battery. The display screen keeps you informed as to the charging level and when it reaches 100% charge. Very good value for the money and I would highly recommend this charger as an alternative to the Nikon brand, which is nearly 10 times the price.

I originally bought a Bevik Dual Camera Battery Charger (MH-26) to charge my Nikon EN-EL18b battery. It worked for a while however it never showed the battery was charged to 100% in my Nikon D850’s Battery info window. The first time it showed 96% and then it showed around 64% eventually it went down to 24%. Doesn’t matter how long I leave the battery in the charger. Now it never can break the 24% barrier. The Bevik battery charger looks exactly like the Wasabi charger that sells on Amazon. Looking through all the reviews for the Wasabi charger there are also a lot of users have similar issues of the battery not showing fully charged in the camera Batt Info window. I figured there must be something wrong in these chargers’ design. So I bought this Kastar charger to give it a try. I received the charger today and once I plugged the battery onto the charger it blinked at 90% and after less than 10 minutes it showed 100%. I thought crap. It’s just like the Bevik charger. It can’t really charge this battery. However once I loaded the battery into the battery pack and attached it onto D850. It showed the battery for the MB-D18 at 100% (see picture). It seems there maybe a software/firmware issue with Bevik/Wasabi charger that it cannot turn on EN-EL18b battery’s internal switch after it got fully charged. Hence the camera thought the battery was not fully charged even though it was actually fully charged. As for many users complaining about the flimsy tabs of the Kastar charger, there is a trick in how to take the battery off the charger correctly. You need to tilt the battery away from where the battery charging contacts are, then the battery would easily pop off the charger. Never force the battery out by pulling it straight out of the charger.I will give a follow up review after I use this charger for a while. For now a 5 Stars rating seems appropriate for this puppy!
