When I first received the Kimaru EN-EL15 Battery Charger I was kind of spooked in so far as it was this little piece of plastic without any power cord to plug into my 120 V home electrical system. It was totally different than the battery chargers for Nikon cameras that I have been used for decades. So I looked back into the small cardboard box in which the charger was packed and saw the USB power cord and the instructions. After reading I had a “Ohhhh” moment and began to test the charger.Testing (basically charging) consisted of plugging the included USB-A to USB-C cable into a standard USB-A charge block (I was lazy and used a 3 year old standard iPhone charge block) and into the USB-C port on the Kimaru unit (there is also a micro USB port on the unit). As soon as I put in two batteries (1 x EN-EL15 and 1 x EN-EL15a) charging commenced and continued until the batteries read full on the Timaru’s charger’s double moving block meter and I removed the batteries. Putting both batteries back into the camera and the auxiliary battery pack they both read full on the camera’s meter. The Kimaru EN-EL15 Battery Charger worked perfectly, if slower than the 120 V electric charge models.There’s not much more to say about the Kimaru EN-EL15 Battery Charger unit. The downside is that it is made of plastic; however, one of the upsides is that it is made of plastic and is very light and easy to carry. The other upside is the ease of charging with this unit as you don’t have to be near a 120 V power supply but can use a portable power pack that is also easy to carry. Over all, I’ve come to favor the Kimaru Battery Charger when in the field because of its portability and ease of use. Now, by carrying the Kimaru and a battery pack I don’t have to worry about my camera batteries running out of power when I’m not near a 120 V supply and/or haven’t packed a bulky 120V charger. As such I give the Kimaru EN-EL15 Battery Charger 5 stars and suggest that if you are in the market for a portable charger this unit should definitely be on your list for purchasing consideration.

I bought this charger in 2024 to speed up my Nikon battery charging. It fits the EN-EL15 batteries and its a must have for any photographer. Charging two batteries simultaneously, it displays the charging status on both batteries. its USB powered so its perfect for travel or for busy wedding days. This charger is super light and fits anywhere in my camera bag. I can use my laptop to charge my batteries, an USB power brick or a power bank. Its well built, reasonably priced and it works.
